A wet cyanotype is when you start adding in experimental chemistry to the traditional process. I was introduced to this technique this past summer during a workshop with the wonderfully talented, Catherine Cross Tsintzos. I started off by spraying and splashing different teas, liquid turmeric, soap bubbles, and peroxide on my cyanotypes to see what would happen. I became obsessed with the uncontrollable results.
This one has turmeric tea, peroxide, and then you can see the soap bubbles on the left.
This one had some vinegar added to it.
This one was really exciting for me. My friend Kelley found a luna moth. I didn't think it would show that much transparency! For this wet cyanotype, I sprayed peroxide and splashed on a tumeric tea.
